Baby swimming has become recognised as being beneficial for both you and your child, and over the last few years we've seen many celebrities enjoying pool time with their little ones. The latest star is McBusted's Tom Fletcher who, fresh from his win of the accolade of Marvel's Celeb Dad of the Year, took his young son Buzz for a splash around recently.

Tom's wife Giovanna recently blogged about her experience for Hello! Magazine. It would seem that although she was a big fan of swimming throughout her pregnancy, Giovanna is a poor swimmer – a result of not being able to put her head underwater as a child. She wanted to counteract this and get baby Buzz in the water as soon as possible.

Buzz headed to the pool at just three months old to start his swimming lessons. His mum writes in her blog that he is a big fan of bath time and relaxes as soon as he's in the water, so they wanted to see how he would react to being in a pool at the earliest opportunity.

It would seem that the littlest Fletcher enjoyed his experience in the water with his dad, only having a tearful in the final moments of the lesson before he ended up falling asleep. If this is anything to go by, it seems that he'll be at home in the water in no time at all.

If you want to follow on from Tom and Giovanna's actions and get your little one in the pool, it could result in a number of benefits beyond making your child more comfortable in the water. As well as helping with confidence, swimming from early on helps with muscle development, concentration and alertness.

Regular swimming with your baby also helps to build a great bond between you, which is something you can both benefit from through your lives. You are able to continue on from baby swimming, making trips to the pool something special for all the family, while also promoting a healthy lifestyle.
