Children "Bored During Summer Holidays"

A new survey has found that children say 'I'm bored' more than 200 times during the summer holidays. According to a poll of around 2,000 parents, between July 24 and September 3rd children constantly moan about having nothing to do.

The Daily Mail reports that the CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort survey found that parents have to work hard to keep children happy over the summer holidays. Holidays, days out and local attractions are just some of the top choices, but once these are worn out many parents believe that they have to start looking further afield.

Not only can this be difficult if parents haven't got the time off work, but it can also cost a lot of money. It was found that around 62 per cent of parents struggle to find things for their children to do towards the end of the holiday, meaning there could be a lot of grumpy children out there.

However, you can save money and reduce the stress of planning activities and days out by heading to your local beach or swimming pool. Many areas across the UK are currently offering free children's swimming, while beaches are free to all. This provides you with plenty of opportunity to keep your kids occupied.

Swimming is a great choice even once your little ones are back in school, as you can make the most of the – hopefully – continued good weather throughout September.

If you want to make the beach or pool more entertaining for your little ones, you can always play games while in the water. Not only will this help them have fun, but it will also keep them active and healthy while also improving their swimming skills.

So if you're struggling to keep your children entertained this week, make the most of your local amenities and build your children's water confidence at the same time.
